Re: Overlooked Second Nights: 10/28/79 |
It was not a good time for hanging on the beach. We were hitchhiking from Vermont to see the tour and it was feezing cold and snowing the night between the shows. In contrast, the colliseum was very hot and humid and after the shows steam just poured out of the doors as we were leaving. After the 1st show we asked a couple of cops what was legal for camping around there and one of them said (in that wonderful Mass accent) "nothin's legal in Yaaahmith", we got a real kick out of that. We ended up pitching a tent at a local rest area off the highway. IMO that was one of the greatest tours that I was able to attend. We started in Springfield Mass, through New Haven, Yarmouth, Nassau, Spectrum, Cap Center, and ended up in Buffalo, 11 shows, for a 19yo on his first real extended tour, it was heaven!!

Snow? Cold? As long as you have the proper attire, there's not much I enjoyed more than wigging in the snow. Throw in the sound of crashing waves and a bonfire (my grandparents alwasy kept dry firewood at their place, so we'd have no problem gettin it going) and I think it'd be ok. Much prefer that to being inside; never was really big on wigging indoors except for shows, alway preferred being outside, even in inclement weather.
